This piece was inspired by an illustration titled Mother of Birds by my sister, Barbie Phan Stattman.

In this piece, I used recordings of fruit flies that I had trapped in a jar, rocks, dry fallen leaves, a river in the Back Bay Fens, and a canary named Whistler, who lives in the reading room of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.
